First Borns

We had dinner last night at some dear friends' house to celebrate the impending arrival of baby Harrison.  Harrison is baby number three for our friends, Jay and Sally.  It was a bit chaotic last night with the adults, many of whom have been friends of ours since college and all the resulting offspring.  And when you have two friends who are blessed with twins, it tends to up the number of babies pretty quickly.

But there was a moment last night when the original three first-borns were sitting on the couch goofing off and eating cookie cake.  In short, being their normal, fairly goofy selves.

And it reminded me of a similar shot taken almost 5 years ago on a sunny July day when we decided it was time to let our babies "swim" for the first time. After that "swim" they were tired enough to be fairly compliant for a photo shoot.

Seriously? Wasn't this yesterday? Now, together, they are the older siblings to 6 younger children. And they will all start kindergarten in August.

My heart just broke a little. Where did our babies go?
